1. What is a RSA SecurID Token (Key Fob)?

The RSA SecurID Key Fob (SD600) - is a hardware token that displays a unique token code generated by the patented RSA SecurID hash algorithm in combination with the unique 64-bit symmetric key contained in the token. Augmented by an internal clock, the algorithm generates a new code every 60 seconds for the programmed life of the fob.

2. Why is RSA SecurID much more secured than using regular passwords?

Each registered FairEx B2B end user is being assigned a RSA SecurID Token (Key Fob) which generates a new, unpredictable code every 60 seconds. The user combines this number with a secret PIN to log into protected resources.

Each token has a unique 64-bit symmetric key that is combined with a powerful algorithm to generate a new code every 60 seconds. Only the security server of FairEx B2B trading system knows which number is valid at that moment in time for that user/authenticator combination. Therefore, it is virtually hacker proof and keystroke capturing Trojans programs has no relevant effect on such mechanism, as the password entered by you will never be the same each time.

3. What is a PASSCODE?

It is your PIN combined with the TOKEN CODE displayed on your RSA SecurID Token.

PIN and TOKEN CODE = PASSCODE

You would have received your PIN in the token assignment letter addressed to you as a registered FairEx B2B user, along with the SecurID hardware key fob when you sign off as the consignee.

Simply combine your secret PIN (something you know) with the TOKEN CODE generated by the token (something you have). The result is a unique, one-time-use Passcode that is used to positively identify or authenticate yourself.

4. How can I log in to FairEx using the RSA SecurID Token?

Each time when you log on to www.fairex.com, you will be prompted for a username and a passcode by a pop up dialogue, before you are cleared to proceed to the level two login.

At the level two log in, simply enter the same username again, and log in with the level two password. This level two password would had been previously emailed to you and changed by you when you had successfully log on to www.fairex.com for the first time, after clearing the level one SecurID login.

You are required to clear the level one log in before proceeding to level two, which will authorize you to FairEx B2B trading service.

5. What should I do when being prompted for NEXT PASSCODE after I entered my username and passcode correctly in the pop up dialogue?

When prompted, all you have to do is to wait until your token code (the numeric displayed on the token) changes, which happens every 60 seconds, and then type in the new token code ONLY. Do NOT type in the PIN and token code, for NEXT PASSCODE.

The function of the NEXT PASSCODE serves to allow re-synchronization between the token and the security server and also to confirm your possession of the token.

6. What happen if I entered my passcode incorrectly for the 3rd time?

You will be shown an Error 401 on the web page.

Go back to www.fairex.com and log in again. Enter your username and passcode correctly. Check your keystrokes carefully and if there is any cap lock currently active.

If you entered the correct passcode for your username, a NEXT PASSCODE pop up dialogue will appear. Just wait for the code to change on your token, usually after 60 seconds, then enter your username and the newly display code ONLY. Do NOT type in the PIN and token code. If you had responded correctly, you will be cleared for level two login.

If somehow you still entered an incorrect passcode after returning to www.fairex.com, you will be administratively disabled. You will NOT be alert of the disabling of token explicitly by the system and you will be denied access from subsequent retries, even if you eventually entered the correct passcode much later.

In this case, you will have to call FairEx ISG at (65) 6323 3232 to report the incident as the bona fide registered user of FairEx B2B and request for the token to be re-enabled after identifying yourself.

FairEx ISG will NOT disclose any PIN information. If you have forgotten your PIN, you will have to write to FairEx for a new PIN.
